@realn2s @rootwyrm They didn't try. In ye olde days, my team reached out internally with a practical application since it was the company mandate at the time. The Watson team told us: "it's just a bunch of open source ML models cobbled together. Build it yourself."

    @mayintoronto @realn2s ayup! To be clear, Watson customers were either reference or 'good fucking luck.' I'm local to a former reference customer - they got white glove treatment right up to the day they said "this shit sucks." Also, fundamentally? "Expert systems" is just a fancy name for exactly what it is - tokenize, search, Mad libs result. The 'expert' part of it was entirely narrowing the input and hand-feeding it. That was it.
