@JeffreySmith@mastdn.social The minor observations, quips and chitchat about this are endless. It is an easy subject to "say something" about. So of course AP, WaPo, etc. will see all the social media cache hits for these stories and try to post more such stories for as long as possible.
It makes a nice break from posting smiling family photos of mass shooters above the fold for weeks on end.

@tasket@mas.to It does seem there's a meaningful difference between a non-profit like the AP, trying to report the news, sometimes imperfectfully, and a propaganda source such as the WAPO serving the interests of one man: Jeff Bezos.
