@jaz @fediversereport @laurenshof the point of a federation protocol is that independent entities can run independent servers. It's not incidental; it's designed in. Before ActivityPub, I had built StatusNet. Christine and Jessica worked on MediaGoblin. Erin had made a client for pumpio. It is risible to say that we were unaware of installable servers.
