@immibis @ChrisHenrichs this is probably the only valid issue with nuclear in my opinion. How can we trust the government? Currently the IAEA and the actual people in the field have proven to be pretty reliable (QED: I'm in the 'blast range' [that's some gallows humor and it's probably not appropriate and might not translate well if this is all being translated into German but idk a better way to say it, lol] of 3 nuclear plants and I'm still alive) It's definitely a trust but verify sort of thing. But right now the plants are well kept. The people are competent. And, the safety culture seems better than even aerospace. Smaller plants (so called micro and nano nuclear plants) will make this even less of an issue in the future. The bigger issue with that sentiment is that: right now worse things are happening with the oil, gas, coal industries. Like, y'all are worried about potentially fucking up while right now this very second we are do irreparable damage with the industries that compete with nuclear. And we have no alternative: wind and solar can't fix it yet. I'm going to stop yapping in this message I'm the interest of not dragging on to much. I guess I should ask, do y'all know who nuclear plants work?
