@mk30 Equally easy, I would say. Footnotes may require a little more computation, but I doubt it would ever be noticeable. Before computer setting, you would have to know how much space the footnotes of a “page" would occupy in order to leave enough room on the page for those notes. And yet typesetters managed to do that all the time.
