As inflation hits the RAM market particularly hard, a few belt-tightening tips for the winter season:
- Limit yourself to 75 tabs per window (I assume, as a kind and decent person, you have only one window open per workspace).
- Instead of AAA games like Call of Duty, switch to indie darlings like Hollow Knight: Silksong.
- You already have uBlock Origin; now add uMatrix or Ghostery to block javascript by default.
- Instead of LibreOffice, write documents in LaTeX. Instead of compiling the LaTeX, send the raw code.
- Instead of indie darlings like Hollow Knight: Silksong, try classics like Tetris or Pong.
- Don't open Excel spreadsheets.
- Instead of python, write your utility scripts in Perl. Instead of Perl, consider C. Instead of C, work it out by hand.
- Instead of classics like Tetris or Pong, find a real life human to play Snakes and Ladders with.
- Instead of Firefox, consider a lighter-weight alternative like wget. Instead of Thunderbird, try telnet.
- Emacs can be configured to use less memory with `sudo apt remove emacs; sudo apt install vim`.
