It would be easier to shield Bondi from testifying to congress by “firing” her.
A) If she gets a new request to testify, she could refuse and if compelled, she could still defy and Trump would have the DOJ ignore the resulting criminal referral.
B) If she did testify, then Trump’s DOJ would certainly prosecute her (probably for some shit she actually did do). So she would be much more inclined to take path A

@hasani I mean, in principle Congress could pursue its own contempt finding — but I’m not going to wait for the Senate to grow that much of a spine.
