Especially because, while in this instance I only felt annoyed and out of the loop, I can think of real safety issues here. Someone on a muted instance, with asshole followers from other instances, can reply to my post without my knowledge and sic a dogpile on me if they wanted, and I would have no idea how my post even got to all of the harassers that I can see.
