@RMKrug @addison well, reviewer self-citation or not, I didn't review this paper 😉
And adding more refs should make sense, especially if the paper was solid . Xou can always miss important refs, for example because keywording has changed over time. But this should not be an excuse to decrease the quality of the ref-work.

@olibrendel@scicomm.xyz @RMKrug@hachyderm.io oh yeah, when there's a reason to reference, one should. I wouldn't suggest that reviewer citation suggestions are always wrong. It's certainly happened more than once that a reviewer has asked me to cite something very distantly related, though, for reasons obscured to me.
