To nitpick further, this is a consequence of unregulated capitalism and at this point the people who control it don't have an incentive to change it.
The system is working as intended.
We need to destroy it if we want anything to change.

To nitpick further. It all ends up as a guaranteed exorbitant income for the owning class. and we are all paying for it in endless amounts of human misery and destruction of our planet.
