One interesting point is that the content of the paper is the same as my blog post https://limited.systems/articles/frugal-computing/, which I wrote in 2021 and I am sure has a much wider reach than the arXiv version. But what this shows is that you can publish a paper outside of the traditional venues, and it will still reach your peers. It also shows to me personally that a "blog-firs" approach is the right thing to do. (2/3) #FrugalComputing

(*) It was a position paper at the IAB workshop on Environmental Impact of Internet Applications and Systems (E-impact) in 2022. The Internet Architecture Board (IAB) is committee of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). The actual publication is on GitHub: https://github.com/intarchboard/e-impact-workshop-public/tree/main/papers #FrugalComputing (**) Not many citations, 15 so far. But my most cited work is a book on which I was editor in 2013, and that has been cited 171 times. I have no other work with more than 100 citations. (3/3)
