So I guess in other words for the first part:
- To me, the adjective isn't inherently a slur unless applied to a living creature, but it is still incredibly bad because using it in one context normalizes using it in other contexts and if they're willing to call an electronic it then they're probably also willing to call a person it.
- However, to me the noun is inherently a slur, because it is by definition referring to a living creature and lacks any possible use other than being applied as such or being used as a comparison as such.

@rosaaeterna @sleepybisexual Even in the case of using the adjective for an inanimate object, it still relies on drawing a comparison from the object to a disabled person. It still reinforces the societal harm and stigma of the condition and it still gives the word power. Which is to say, it works via the exact same mechanisms that a slur does. Because it's a slur. I don't really understand why you're nitpicking this. Just call a slur a slur and move on.
