@rosaaeterna @sleepybisexual It being used for inanimate objects doesn't change the origin of the term. When people use the term to refer to objects in a video game twitching due to physics engine bugs, it's still a slur. When people use it to refer to their home electronics not working, it's still a slur. In the exact same way that if I used the r-slur to refer to a managerial decision, I'd still be using a slur. I have never come across a non-slur use of the words.

    @rosaaeterna @sleepybisexual To simplify: Using the technical term "retard", for example within the context of inhibiting the spread of a fire - non-slur usage, but maybe choose a different word anyway if possible Using the r-slur to refer to anything (animate or no) that you think is stupid, faulty, ugly / other pejorative uses. - definitely still a slur! It's the meaning of the word that matters, not the subject. There are no non-slur definitions for sp*z / sp*stic.
