When I was at the university we had a Swedish book in the algebra course. It&#39;s not a bad book but now that I decided to reboot mathematics I&#39;d like to have a book in English. It&#39;s a bit unfortunate they decided to pick this book, especially since algebra is an important subject used in all subsequent fields, explaining concepts in Swedish is very unhelpful for future studies. Anyway, what&#39;s a good English algebra book in your opinion? #math #litterature

@rtn There's a bunch of textbooks available for free on the Internet Archive. They're older, but from what I've seen some of them explain things better than modern textbooks anyway. Not sure why that is - maybe because hadn't hit late-stage capitalism yet! https://archive.org/details/modernalgebrastr01dolc_2

@rtn echoing @AdrianRiskin as far as university level texts go. In times past you would get some school level textbooks that went quite far in many areas (and they'd be labelled "algebra") but they wouldn't teach you any *abstract* algebra like group theory, no proper number theory, etc. The following has some very good textbooks.
