@Burn_this_ Haha I hope you use it providently.
For me, saying "thanks" is a more vulnerable act than apologizing. So many (but not all) apologies are secret requests for absolution. Sometimes apologizing is a selfish act, more about the person apologizing than the one they wronged.
But thanking somebody tells them: "you're great, and I appreciate it". Who doesn't love hearing that?
So thanks for the fun reply and for getting to the end of this tedious, over-serious reply.
