I had one as a kid.
The added benefit is that you get to hear a view of our world from outside our world and that is useful even before democracy dies. It might even help to prevent a total collapse or speed the recovery.

@mral @FediThing I grew up huddled over a #shortwave radio, listening to the news from the free world, "Radio Free Europe" . The same one, fascist tRump destroyed recently. You knew some shit was going on at home, each time jamming increased.
