And, to continue playing devil's advocate, that's a hard concept for a lot of people to wrap their heads around, my father included. "Obviously" a game has a specific goal and is self-contained and local. (He didn't understand why you couldn't just pause an MMO either.)

@pteryx @Printdevil @Taskerland I think one of the things I took away from those early experiences was "every other game is like this, so if we _can_ do something differently let's do that".

What's odd is the world is full of games without goals or scores. There were decades of surrealist party games.. just designed or thought up to enjoy, but without winning or losing. It was the Board Game industry when it got going that insisted there should be ends and goals, winners and losers. Perfidious in all their ways. @pteryx @RogerBW @Taskerland
