It's not that I *dis*like big stakes, but it does feel like they're a bit too easy to come by and hard to do in small doses. Really, my bigger problem with cosmic horror is less being too large-scale, and more the fact that the entire point is incomprehensibility and human(oid) irrelevance, when if I'm investigating things I want to come out understanding stuff and showing how cool it is to be sapient.

@pteryx @Printdevil @Taskerland Small stakes are big to the people whose stakes they are. If you're counting people rather than gold pieces or experience points, it can be just as satisfying to get Little Johnny out of that weird new church he was going to as to punch Cthulhu in the face.
