@Madagascar_Sky @jay_peper @4censord A lot of people think she's good looking. I think she looks like a generic stereotype. If AI drew a pop star it would look like Taylor Swift. She sings well, but her material is banal. It's all about her bad taste in men. Bleh. Boring. I hope this new guy works out, for his sake as much as for hers. He's really good at what he does. I like him. He's very entertaining to watch, and Mahomes is a hard act to distract from. Yet very time Mahomes preforms some miracle stunt in the pocket, he can count on Travis Kelce to pop up out of nowhere to put the finishing touch on it. A very amusing performer, he deserves a happy home life. We'll just have to wait till, in typical football fashion he bypasses middle age and goes straight to old age. Then we'll see if she's still there for him. American football is a hard trade to stay young at. I worry about him getting CTE. He gets hit a lot. His brother had the sense to retire young and healthy. I hope Travis doesn't stick at it or too long just because he wants to impress Taylor Smith. At its core CTE is a labor issue. It's high time we stop treating athletes like mythological creatures come to life and start treating them like what they really are, fellow workers. It doesn't matter how much you get paid, be it high or be it low, if you work, you're a worker. Period. The same goes for entertainment workers, even the stars. Ballers work hard for the money. Donna Summer could have done a song about it. "Hard for the money," it's a catchy line. Put a beat to it and we can all dance till dawn. Not on a work night, though. Early to bed and early to rise makes . . . something . . . something . . . or however that goes. Taylor Swift is a competent entertainer, too. She works hard at it. She tours like James Brown at his peak. She hardly takes time to catch her breath. But if she sang about the world instead of herself I'd like her better. I'm partial to Ani DiFranco and Joan Baez types. Maybe it's because I'm old and politics is important to me, or maybe it's because I just don't like pop as a genre. I especially don't like stadium scale production that's not Beyoncé. Beyoncé is the exception. Her production style I really like. She transcends genres, and makes an art out of what would otherwise be mere spectacle. Her Superbowl halftime show a few years back was totally excellent. I can still close my eyes and see it in my mind. That's how dancers add to the music instead of just distract from the singer. But spectacle pop in general bores me. I like intimate music. I'd rather watch someone with something to say singing alone in a dive bar. There's no accounting for taste.
