I'm traveling to Milan in June for a conference, and was planning to take the night train from Hamburg to Zürich, then a regional train. This was at least my request to Reisemanagement. Our travel depart then demanded I fly, despite the fact that I would need to then arrive a night earlier (therefore missing a weekend day with the family) and also of course have to pay for another hotel night, making the flight much more expensive on net. Their argument is that the flight itself is ca 10€ cheaper than the night train 🫠 I've told them I will simply cancel my attendance if they force me to fly inside Europe. That's what we're up against.
