@the_blackwell_ninja Same process the world over. The greed of the wealthy is reversing decades of slow improvement in our standards of living & life expectancy. Their control of every aspect of our lives always existed, but where they were held vaguely responsible for their actions, today they aren't bothered if their actions cause us harm, & they buy politicians who change laws to ensure they'll never be held accountable & that its their wealth, not our lives or rights, that's protected.

@UKnoGum @the_blackwell_ninja If you look south of the border, we have a different story. In the last 6 years the minimum wage doubled, poverty receded, a lot ,as did inequality and violence ( a little) . The social safety net is growing. A women is President , Claudia, with sky high approval rates. It can be done with the right ingredients. I hope you manage to shake off Trump and the whole system.

@UKnoGum @the_blackwell_ninja and it’s by design. In the early 20th century economists already concluded that unregulated capitalism is unsustainable. As they didn’t want to introduce ‘communist elements’ (like distribution of wealth) the concept of ‘austerity economics’ was created.
