#PDX Statement of Portland City Councilor for District 3 Tiffany Koyama Lane from Instagram on the Moda Center secret negotiations: Moda Center at the Rose Quarter Public money deserves pubIic accountability! This means transparency in the process. I was invited to be a part of a newly formed group of councilors tasked with leading the City Council’s engagement in discussion of the Moda Center deal, but we have been asked to sign an NDA – a non-disclosure agreement, a legally binding contract of confidentially meant to keep information from being disclosed to the public. Transparency is one of my personal values and promises to my constituents. It is also one of the City of Portland’s stated core values, which include transparency and integrity, with “no hidden agenda” according to the City website (portland.gov/bhr/city-core-values) As a public official, charged with serving the public, my goal is to get the City a good deal while making the process transparent to the people.
