@knurd42 I don't think so. The way it works is that the wheel normally scrolls in small steps which you can feel as if it would go to the next cog or something (but in reality that's a magnet). If you give it a bit of a spin, the firmware inside the mouse detects that, disables the stepping (so the wheel becomes free spinning) and produces more scroll events. I think to remember that for Trackpoints you could configure them to accelerate the scrolling with time. But they had infinite scroll.

    @knurd42 Mh, the trackpoint on my USB keyboard "just" varies the speed depending how far I push it, that's also good. probably applies to scrolling because on the trackpoint scrolling is "middle mouse plus move" and not a dedicated wheel?
