Train enthusiasts hear my plea!
As some of you know, I’m writing the script for a point-and-click game. I am looking for descriptions of vintage train experiences from the 1890s.
As an analogy, commander Scot makes a comment to Picard in an episode of TNG that he “could tell the warp speed from the vibration in the deck plates” on the original Enterprise.

I imagine there are similar descriptions for train engineers and other staff. Could someone recognize the difference between German, French, or Hungarian track sounds as cars went snick-snick or clack-clack? Were sections of track played with longer or shorter sections of rail in different regions?
