R.I.P Michael Tilson Thomas, long time conductor of the San Francisco Symphony. He was well known for his Mahler cycle, but I liked his recording of Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras (with Renée Fleming) best.
Amazingly, his predecessor Herbert Blomstedt is still conducting at 98 (I heartily recommend his Nielsen cycle, that I first bought as CDs when at Yale in the 1990s).

@fazalmajid I love the Bachianas, but I had no idea Tilson recorded them. Probably because never heard of Tilson before. I have them recorded by Kenneth Schermerhorn. I'll try to find Tilson’s record.

@fazalmajid I first ever heard Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras as a vocal rendition by Joan Baez, 40+ years ago, and I still love that piece of music. Thank you for reminding me.
