I grew up in the gdr and I’m still in disbelief how everyone seems to be totally fine with giving their information to every company that asks for it.
so many people are cool with putting an always listening alexa device in their home and even pay for it.

Yes, it really is absurd. Whenever I hear this kind of attitude, I’m always reminded of this apt quote from Edward Snowden, who certainly knows exactly what he’s talking about: “Arguing that you don’t care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say.”
