Maybe I should have puréed it, I don't know. This is the first time in ages that I cooked something from scratch. I'm just so disappointed.
In other cooking related news, I asked a friend if she would teach me how to cook a chicken curry. We're doing that next weekend. I will be taking lots of notes, maybe take pics of the spices of hers that she said we can use.
Wish me luck...

@Giselle sorry to hear that. Cooking from scratch needs very detailed recipes, or experience. I sometimes try salt, fat, sugar, acid. If something tastes bland, one of those four is missing.

@Giselle I'm not a good cook. At. All. There are a few things I make well, and I mostly try to stick to those few things. Luckily, SpousalUnit is a much better cook than I am. I do hope your future adventures in kitchen chemistry turn out better for you!
