@repeatro absolutely! I remember seeing the big box as a kid, but didn't get to play it until last year. Not sure why I never sought it out before, because I did really like Metroid 2 on the GB as a kid and later enjoyed Metroid Prime as well. Super Metroid still feels very modern. The spritework is beautiful, it eases you into the exploration carefully by starting very linear before opening up and even allows you to remap every single button! And the way it teaches you new skills. 👌

@mforester Definitely. It was my first Metroidvania and I had a lot of respect playing it. Must have been 5 years ago. If I remember correctly the mission screen stated round about 10 hours at the end.

@mforester There are some limits on the button mapping in Super Metroid. Angle up and down have to be on the shoulder buttons, unless you use something like the VARIA Randomizer to patch the controls. As for A Link to the Past, it's interesting that Desert Palace introduces the concept of splitting a dungeon up with two separate entrances, and the second requires its treasure to access, but that design only gets used once more in that game. Ocarina of Time is the only other game in the series I recall them doing that.
