I'm trying to understand this new attitude by platform providers that they have the right to the data we create to train their AI. If I am a paying customer, I'm already paying for the service. If they want my data they should pay for that. I'm looking at you Atlassian. Best to use open source and #selfhost. I'm doing that for some things. I still need to figure out google photos though. Telling me that they can train on my private photos is wild. #AI #enshittification

    @sri facebook solved this years ago by claiming copyright over the photos you post to instagram. no need to steal them - they already own them! ;) in all seriousness, immich is pretty good and @ente is very slick when you (inevitably) get tired of self-hosting. third-wave open source solves this problem in a way that has a leg up over self-host-only.
