Last year my friend died. It was a rather public affair since he was much loved by people in the media and arts. Still, six months later people on Facebook sent him birthday wishes oblivious to the fact that he had died. Last month another friend of mine died. It has been a much more private affair. His birthday is coming up later this month and I am dreading seeing people using Facebook's default emojis to wish him well. If you are so out of touch with someone that they might've died without you noticing you should consider checking their Facebook page and looking to see if there has been any activity there recently before posting. #Facebook
