@pathunstrom If you are more willing to compromise on "company does AI stuff, but that's OK since I don't have to turn it on" than me, you might want to consider looking into Zed. I don't know much about Zed except it has an enthusiastic developer community, and it bragged about Copilot integration as a headliner feature from day one so I did not bother downloading it.

@mcc neither are new suggestions, but i appreciate your detailed accounting of both! Sublime is currently a top contender for multiple reasons. The incremental diff against the version on disk is a pretty cool feature all on its own.
