First Mandelson and now Doyle, people are attacking Starmer and Labour because of who the two were friends with. There's no accusations that Mandy or Doyle partook of pædophilia or supported it, or even definitely knew of it, so at what point does it become an issue, and should it even be one? Over many many years I've been friends or acquainted with many hundreds of people. I've little idea what most of them do in their private lives. I'm aware that a few have served a prison sentence but whether others also have I don't know. "I am not my brother's keeper" etc. so does the fact that ex got done for kidnapping and gun crime mean that I should be automatically considered suspect? We each only see a window onto the lives of others.
