@DavidPenington @MrLee The legal "250w" ones are allowed to exceed 250w for a brief time - EN15194 specifies the 250w rating is "maximum continuous power". Standard is a little ambiguous but it refers to another standard which specifies that it's measured at the output of the device - so potentially it's also measured at the rear wheel, not electric input. Since it doesn't take 250w to keep you at 25km/h, it can go harder when starting, provided it backs off later.

  • @DavidPenington @MrLee This is of course entirely distinct from the electric motorcycles where the only thing that's "250w" about them is the sticker on the motor. If they even still bother claiming they're legal, which I don't think any do as point of sale enforcement is pretty much zero.
