@dragon The burning of CD was a tradition in the northern Finland between 1995 and 2015. Celebrated on the Saturday closest to summer Solstice. Traditionally the CD was dragged out of the house and near a waterfront and set on fire. People would sit around the burning CD all night telling stories and offering to make more coffee, and everyone around the fire would chorus as the tradition dictates "Ei mun takia tartte keittää". The bravest or most drunk would try to jump over the burning CD for good luck. The reason for this tradition was to make sure the Sun would start setting again during nights so people could again get some fucking sleep. The observance of this fine tradition was stopped in 2016 almost immediately after the invention of thick enough curtains that could block out the midnight sun.
