@atzanteol @Lkdc Well, there are people living in America (both of them), that aren’t from the USA. So, perhaps you should accept that American should be the adjectif for your country.

    @atzanteol I had no idea that "USian" was considered a pejorative. Sorry to have caused offense. If you check my profile, you'll see that I'm an USian/American myself. Everywhere except Mastodon, I call myself an American. On Mastodon, I call myself an USian, because on Mastodon I've met people from South America who resent US citizens for taking the word "American" for ourselves. They want the word "American" to be available to everyone in North, Central, and South America. I'm aware that the US has done some terrible things to our Central and South American neighbors, including overthrowing democratically elected governments. Obviously, I can't undo the horrors of the past. However, I hope that by respecting the wishes of the South Americans on Mastodon, I can take a tiny step towards healing the relationships between my people and theirs. @Sobex
