Well, I looked it up, and the USA kind of is like the Schengen Area. You can cross state lines without any papers at all! Just not between Canada or Mexico. It's like trying to go to the Ukraine, or Morocco.

@cy I wish that we had a Schengen-like agreement with Canada. I would love to be able to hop on a train to Canada without fearing the border crossing.
