@amoroso They really served very different purposes. With edge-notched cards you would hand-write content in the center. The holes around the edge corresponded to concepts. For example a group of 12 holes might be months of the year. Another set might represent products. You would remove (notch) all the holes to which the card does not apply. Now stick needles through the “February” and “Product1” holes and you can lift out just those cards. No sorting, no searching. Pretty simple/cool.
