@Emmacox @gemlog Thank you both for sharing your experiences. They remind me very much of the internal border checks carried out by East German soldiers, to whom even West Germans were completely at the mercy of. I experienced this as a child when visiting relatives in the GDR, and I never want to have to go through that again.
A part of my family lives in the USA but meanwhile I broke all contacts. Once upon a time they fled from Hitler. But their descendants *all* fell first for evangelical
