I wanted a more energy-efficient clothes dryer. Maybe solar- or wind-powered. Pleased to say it didn't take more than a few weeks to realize the device I wanted is called a "clothesline." Because of bugs and relentless pollen, I strung mine up inside, coincidentally solving "energy-efficient humidifier." Only downside is my jeans are crunchy.
