Which had benefits over the d-pad buttons they replaced. Habits, notifications, swipe-brain: A fresh install of lineageOS without Google play should have nearly 0 notifications not prompted by apps you install. If it were me, I'd decide if I wanted wifi or hardwire to manage the media. (Even if you don't use a smartphone). Wifi: way more convenient, but is easier to add "swipe brain" apps and harder to lock down. Compromise: wifi solely for syncthing. I run syncthing to sync a folder on my computer kind of like Dropbox. I manage my music on the PC, and the phone gets the new files. Could theoretically do this with podcasts too. Wired: like an old iPod. I'd consider an ancient Android + lineageOS, or a wiped stock android in offline mode. Or an ancient ipod touch or iphone, which are pretty cheap these days. Most stock lineageOS installs don't even have f-droid. it's many steps from stock LOS to app installs. if you're really paranoid about app installs, get an old windows phone. xD cool interface, good luck finding apps kid. https://social.linux.pizza/@BigHeadMode/115432488705346631
