@flup@mastodon.scot It's probably not "#Linux" that is your problem, but the specific combination of Distro, Desktop Environment, GPU and middleware. Many people have working setups with mixed scaling - I myself have a particular config with Laptop screen 2880x1600@ 1.5 scaling, main monitor 3440x1440 @ 1.2 scaling and mobile monitor 1920x1080 @ 1.0 scaling working just fine.

    @ftranschel@norden.social I'm sure they do -- but as a 33-year veteran of the Linux world I don't want to be my own sysadmin any more, I just want to use my laptop. I tried fractional scaling but it makes video playback choppy :/ I might try one more distro if I can face it, but this is such a time sink I'm on the verge of giving up again. FWIW I tried Ubuntu first but 'sector 2048 is already in use', so Mint is already my second go at this.
