@PamelaBarroway Absolutely. My dad is over a decade younger than your mom and he remembers kids in his community dying of polio, which he himself survived as a toddler. His mom was frantic to get her kids the vaccine the second it was available.

@greene Frantic, yes! That's exactly how my mom describes the atmosphere. She was in her late teens in the 50s when the Salk Vaccine became widely available.
