@greene yes, even the wealthy had large families as they didn’t know how many would survive into adulthood

@peterbrown @greene There's a large monument in a local cemetery, from the 19th century, marking the graves of 5 children who died within days of each other in a cholerae outbreak. Clearly the family were wealthy enough to buy a grand monument to commemorate their lost children, but their money couldn't prevent the devastating loss happening to them.
