@mipsytipsy wrote an amazing blog post https://charity.wtf/2025/07/09/thoughts-on-motivation-and-my-40-year-career/
I feel like she's describing so much of what got me interested in tech work and why I still have so much ambition and hope for it
Overall, society's not been great at making spaces for neurodivergent folks who also love the complexity of systems of humans, and in a way, working in tech has felt like the only place I could have gone and made my life work, especially before I figured all my shit out

@recursive@hachyderm.io @mipsytipsy@hachyderm.io Ugh, I came to the same conclusion. If I want to keep working in software (and I do, I love making things!) I'll have to be self employed. I read https://www.wheresyoured.at/never-forget-what-theyve-done/ and realized that I also need to never forget that they took the work we love and made so many of us hate it. They took advantage of how easy we are to overwork, burned us out, and then they discarded us.
