@nyhan I dont think it does. I think the risk of ghost references is higher cos pre Walden they only created records they could match crossref dois without. Post Walden they are matching with data cite & possibly other lower quality sources including risks

@nyhan the XPAC expansion pack is particularly risky, adds 190M record not just from datacite but also thousands of repositories. If any of these get "polluted" , we going to have issues

@aarontay Tangentially related question: among bibliographic databases/discovery layers with citation graphs, which one do you think will be first to add a feature labeling citations as faithful or unfaithful? Presumably they would need the full text of the citing paper and each cited paper for which they intend to... I'm not sure what the verb should be. To compute the level of fidelity? To estimate the level of fidelity? To classify the citation as faithful or not? To generate a label?
