A good argument for the 4-point grading scale.

Yes thank you. The most rational take on here. My kids’ school grades everything on a 4 point rubric. All tests have a rubric and all the teachers use that for each assignment. It clearly spells out what the teacher is looking for and every entry on the rubric is linked to a state standard. They mark where the student is for each listed standard on a scale from 0 to 4. Doing poorly on a test hurts your grade but it doesn’t destroy it.

People say this but there’s really no actual difference between grading on a 100 point or a 4 point scale. It’s still just a subjective number. And I’ve heard all the theory about the 4 point scale and whatnot. It’s just another educational grift. The point of school is filtering and indoctrination, not education. That’s why assigning everybody a number is so important. How else to know who’s been indoctrinated? How else to know whom to filter?
