All these things I am doing with void* in C can be done much more safely in Fortran, but don’t bother asking even Fortran fans about that. They’ll tell you Fortran isn’t good for that, it’s for numerical work.
They haven’t kept up. :)
It’s also that gfortran isn’t especially friendly for general programming. But that’s just one compiler. I haven’t tried the others. I haven’t used any other compiler worth mentioning since Fortran 77.

I exaggerate. Gfortran is FRICKING AN ENEMY OF GENERAL PROGRAMMING. But it can be managed.
