@http The 1970s were when microwaves became common for *home* use. They were available for restaurants and such before 1950.

@varx In the US, first restaurant use of microwaves was in the late 60s, early 70s. Remember that it took until 1978 when 10% of households had microwaves. In 1970 it was below 1%.
