@wezm but the fact that you quoted that announcement is the evidence that people do indeed forget. All I'm saying is that it's understandable.

@isagalaev ok, yes people do forget. To me it seems wild that people are able to forget that the seasons are different down here. However, my lived experience is different as I have been aware of the difference from a very young age. E.g. warm Christmas vs. cold Christmas.
