On the topic of non-US services: Have you seen https://www.eurosky.tech, which is built on the AT protocol. Opinions? Experiences? Views? Wouldn't it, today, still have a dependency to BlueSky? Or have I misunderstood how it (AT) works? Apparently no one I know or am connected with is talking about it, as my search here in the Fediverse couldn't find a single post about it. #eurosky #europeanalternatives #european #alternatives

    @mathias Eurosky is a tech provider that currently offers account hosting for ATProto accounts. So you can have a Eurosky account and then use apps like Bluesky, Flashes, Tangled, etc. So the Eurosky PDS doesn't rely on Bluesky (the app). Bluesky runs a relay and an app view for their app. And they ingest content from the Eurosky PDS. So in a sense they depend on Eurosky :)

    @mathias You're totally correct, it remains very dependent on Bluesky USA. Recently we even saw that in practice when Bluesky started rejecting Eurosky the PDS so users on it could not post until Bluesky adjusted their relay config for Eurosky.

    @mathias I have just started using it, easy to switch over and so far so good, to answer one of your questions, does it rely upon Bluesky, not sure will try and find out…
